Opportunities/Invitations in Alberta and Northwest Conference

Alberta and Northwest Conference is a strong and vibrant Conference of The United Church of Canada. We give thanks for those who give of their time and talent to the committees whose work not only strengthens our Conference, but the Church as a whole. Have you been or felt called to offer your leadership on a Conference Committee?

There are a variety of places to serve and give leadership in Alberta and Northwest Conference. Consider giving your time and talents in an area where you have passion.

We ask for a two-year commitment, renewable once. The membership guidelines for Conference Committees are that we like a balance representing our Conference. The appointment of committee members is by action of the Leadership Resource Development Committee.

There is room for you here - now!

What do these Conference Committees do?

The Planning and Administration Committee is responsible for the administration and operation of the Conference in the areas of financial management, office and staffing, and meets 4 to 6 times per year.

Standing Committees are responsible and accountable for ongoing tasks assigned to them by The Manual of The United Church of Canada or by the Conference Executive. The number of committee meetings per year is determined by the tasks assigned to each Committee

Advisory Committees represent the Conference’s interests to organizations external to, but connected with the church. The number of committee meetings per year is determined by the organizations and the work to be done.

Ad Hoc Committees are established to undertake time certain, task specific work mandated by the Conference Executive. The number of times each committee meets is determined by the tasks assigned to the committee.
